How much does it cost to attend a session?
hummingbird studio is free to the public however, we gratefully accept donations.
How do I reserve a seat?

Can I bring my own art or supplies?
Yes. You are more than welcome to bring your own art supplies as long as they're non-toxic and safe for indoor usage.
Does hummingbird studio accept art supply donations?
We gratefully accept art supply donations, however please check with us first as we are very, very limited on storage in our current home. We especially appreciate donations of watercolor paper.
What does a volunteer do?
Volunteers play a vital role in maintaining an inclusive and welcoming environment in the studio. Duties include making art, interacting & collaborating with fellow artists, and clean-up and set-up at the end of each session.
What does an inclusive environment mean?
hummingbird studio is inclusive because we welcome artists of ALL abilities, ages, and from all walks of life. We believe everyone is an artist, and that art belongs to everyone.
Is there instruction at the studio?
There is no formal instruction, though we have a theme each week in case you need a starting point. Feel free to create whatever you'd like in our judgement-free zone.
Is this a suitable environment for individuals with sensory sensitivities?
Our studio is bright with colorful art, music, and sounds that accompany a busy studio space. This may not be a good fit for those who have sensory sensitivities. Some sessions are typically quieter, so please contact us privately to discuss your personal situation.
Why is hummingbird studio lower case?
hummingbird studio is lower case to express the equality of the studio.
Can I bring my kids to a session?
Yes, our studio is open to all ages however, children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
How can I support hummingbird studio?
There are many ways to support the studio. You can follow us and share our posts on social media, donate art supplies, volunteer, tell your friends about us, participate as an artist, and/or make a financial donation.
Why doesn't hummingbird studio have a permanent home?
We're currently nesting at Friendship Hall at the YWCA, 220 Union Ave. SE Olympia on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is our long-term temporary home. We are honored to have been selected to be one of eight anchor partners at the City of Olympia's Armory Creative Campus, opening in 2026.
